Updates

January 2024

My name is Nick Barillari and I am the new commodore of the team. I would like to update you on the new board that I am going to be working with as well as some updates for the spring. Listed below are the new members that will be serving on this year’s executive board:

Beale Hughes - Safety and Equipment

We are all very excited to get the season underway. This winter we have been working on planning out the year as well as working to obtain new sails for our boats. We have also worked very hard this fall on shed and boat improvements. 

Alumni Weekend 2024:

Finally, I would like to invite you all to alumni weekend this spring. It will be held on the weekend of April 26th! We will be having a super fun weekend packed with social events, racing and a cookout. Please stay tuned for more updates and make sure to let me know if you have any questions

November 2021

We had a successful fall season competing in six MCSA regattas across the Midwest. We placed at a number of these events and brought many of our new sailors to experience their first college sailing regatta. We de-rigged most of our fleet on Nov 2nd and are planning to squeeze in a bit more sailing before the cold sets in. We recently purchased a new safety boat and acquired a new engine as well. We are beginning to plan for a spring Alumni Regatta on May 23-24th, 2022, more information to come.

February 2021

In the fall of 2020 our team focused on self-improvement due to the cancellation of all MCSA regattas. Our fleet recieved a complete scrub down and some upgrades including new hiking straps. Our O’Day Day Sailor was brought back to life as well as our 420 sailboat which we hope to sail in the spring. We are hopeful to host a spring Alumni Regatta this year.

May 2020

Although our season was cut short due to COVID-19, we still had a great regatta at Eckerd College and some fun team events to spend time with our sailors. Unfortunately our alumni regatta was cancelled this spring but we hope that next year we will once again be able to host our amazing alumni!

October 2019

Another great season has come to an end! We have placed at almost every dingy regatta we have competed in, and placed 2nd at GLIOR! It’s been a great run, and now we are wrapping up the boats for the winter.

May 2019

The Alumni Regatta is scheduled for May 27th! Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions - we’re working on getting the boats cleaned up and repainted, and could use as much help with parts, funding and labor as we can get!

Boat Work is underway and going well! Hoping to have a refurbished fleet by the start of the season this spring!

August 2017

As all you hardy sea-men and sea-women get your tans, we on the board have been working on putting together our online store. Our designs for a new t-shirt are underway and as per the requests of alumni, we are also working on selling the Miami Burgee. We are super excited to see some fresh faces this fall with the incoming freshman and for our first regatta, Acton Up (Sept. 9th - 10th). Sail Fast!

March 2017

Hello Alumni! One of the main missions of our new board is to keep you all informed of developments for the team and engaging you more. To help us do that, we've tricked out the website.

In terms of what is coming up for the team, Brittany Nordhaus is bringing down a squad to Eckerd College in Florida, we are overhauling our fleet and bringing down a friend of the team to help us with a ton of repairs, and we're preparing to get into our full spring season.

Also, we will be hosting the Alumni Regatta April 29th through 31st at Miami!
